After A Wash & Trim...

Hey, curlies! I just wanted to say Happy Holidays from the Curly Clan!

I honestly haven't been doing anything new to the kid's hair. So that's why I haven't had much to report lately! However, here are picture of Symari's curls after a wash and trim last month, I believe.

FINALLY. A Decision About Her Hair.

Hey, guys! It's been a while. Again. Haha!
Here's a video discussing what we decided to do about Syriah's hair situation. I can't say that it's working so far yet, but I have some suggestions.

Her Hair Has Gotten THICKER! | Curls of Innocence

Heya, curly mamas! ðŸ”»
I really haven't had much to talk about as far as hair lately, so I haven't written anything in ages. But now, I just want to say that everyone's hair is growing immensely!
If you guys have been following me since their baby days. you know that Symari's hair used to be incredibly thin and fine. Long and wavy, but thin at nature. I didn't think her hair would ever thicken up, but it really has lately. Even my mother in law has noticed!

I haven't been doing anything new or strange with it. I just do as I usually do, wash and condition every 2 weeks, oil her scalp with my castor oil mix, use a leave in, and do a protective style with it. Yesterday, I took down her braids for a prepoo and even that came out beautifully, as you can see in the picture. Her diet also helps. They eat a lot of fruits and veggies, lots of water, and little sweets.
I still massage her scalp a lot as well!
I hope that helped someone a little!

She Won't Help Me Detangle! -_- |Curls of Innocence

Hey guys! Today, I wanted to talk about something that was a little funny, yet annoying all at once.
Syriah is 9 years old now, as you know if you're following us on Instagram. So she's starting to think that she's grown in some ways. You know how kids are; once they get to that preteen stage, they think the world is against them in every way and they get lazy and they have a million and one excuses as to why they can't accomplish something. (eyeroll)

Lately, Syriah has denied helping me detangle all of this hair she has, and I do not appreciate that.

I let her have it for now, but each time she does this grudgingly, I let her know that if she doesn't start helping me take care of her hair, then I will either cut it or let her grow locs, because I have a ton of hair between her siblings and myself, a ton of housework, and homeschool duties to do as it is, so I greatly need help maintaining her hair. I make sure she understands the importance of this. Having long hair is a HUGE responsibility, and at her age, it's time for her to start learning to care for it.
She used to love helping me take care of it, not so much anymore. That's that laziness talking. LOL

She will get it, though. I'm not worried. She'd better. Or it's just gonna go, snip snip!

MY Hair Update 2018 + Dye Issues.

Hiya, curly mamas!
It's probably been forever since I talked about MY hair.

This picture (s) was taken and edited last month, I believe. I had just redone my pink color over my blonde again, and it looked wonderful, as you can see. However, if you have dyed your hair before, then you know how fast reds and pinks can fade. LOL
So, I bought an Herbal Essences color shampoo and conditioner to see if they would hold the color in longer. I have yet to see if that's true or not. I am still experimenting with that.
As far as my hair health goes, my hair is in a really healthy state right now. It's flourishing and growing! I had mentioned in a Youtube video last summer that I wasn't gonna cut my hair at all for any reason for a while, and I hadn't. I only gave myself a light trim a few months ago, and that is only because the hair at the crown of my head is always way longer than the rest of my hair (kinda don't like that) AND those ends were kind of split. So I cut off like a half an inch and trimmed some split ends off the rest of my hair, which were probably caused by bleaching.

Just two years ago, I said that I would no longer dye my ends. Apparently, I lied. I love the way that ombre hair looks and I love having my bangs fully colored. I just have to take care of my hair BETTER than I did 2 years ago, when I was still preggo with baby Kyanah.
I have also learned more about my hair and I have been sticking to just TWO product lines as much as possible, as far as moisturizers. I will elaborate more on that soon.

Thanks for reading!

How I Dyed My 9 Year Old's Natural Curls!

Hey, guys, it's been a while again. I know. Life's a whirlwind as usual.

If you're not following me on Instagram (Curls of Innocence), then you probably don't know that I dyed Syriah's hair for her 9th birthday a few weeks ago! She'd been wanting to have pink hair like me, so I said, why not?
I wasn't allowed to dye my hair as a child at any point in time, so I want her to have the freedom that I didn't have.

Now, it didn't come out as pink as I would have liked, considering that I did not want to leave bleach in my child's hair for too long, but it still lightened a considerable amount. However, the dye job came out more reddish brown than pink.

It is still okay, though, for a first time job. She was happy regardless, and it took me a long time to wash and condition her hair, bleach, dye, AND style all in the same day. I was very exhausted by the time I was finished. My back hurt from leaning over the kitchen sink with her multiple times.
Ya'll, I wish I could have recorded that process. But it was too many steps and way too tiring, indeed. LOL!
I used basic bleach powder from the beauty supply store and 30 volume developer. I was afraid that if I used 20 volume, the hair wouldn't have lightened as much because her hair is really dark. So 30 volume worked! I don't think I did a lot of damage doing this. Also, I did the ends because I didn't want to put those chemicals on her scalp and risk a possible allergic reaction of some sorts, nor did I want it in her bloodstream.

If you have any questions as to how I did this, let me know in the comments. I will be more than happy to answer anything. Hope you're having a happy hair day! :)

Happy New Year! Chopping It All Off?

Hey, ya'll! I know I am late with this, but happy New Year!

I am updating with a new video because I took a slight break from Youtube for 2 weeks to kind of get some things together, but I am back. And I'm bringing you guys a video about my decision to cut all my hair this year. :)
