Curls of Innocence Social Media. January 15, 2016

Hey guys! I've been slacking on this blog again. I just can't keep up with all this social media with 4 kids. I am doing my best while juggling two YouTube channels and other things here at home. Forgive me... that's why I recently made my Twitter strictly personal.

I do keep up on my Instagram, though. I post there a lot, pics of hair, health, and homeschooling things and ideas. Follow me @curlsofinnocence.

I am the hair whisperer of my family, so I am upkeeping six heads of hair. Yes, six. Remember, my hubby has locs now! It's been two months for him so far. I have those updates on IG as well. Yes, this is a lot of work, but I put it on myself to let my boys grow their curls out, loc one of them, and take on the task of maintaining another set of locs. Yikes!

Locs are fairly low maintenance, but not so much in the beginning. LOL! Getting my hubby's super loose textured hair to loc has been a bit of a struggle for me. We're doing it, however.

Anyway, life has been super hectic and busy, as usual. But we're living and doing okay, Vlogging when I can.

For any info on the kid's wash routines or wash days, stay tuned to YouTube. Updating the page on this blog where their old routines are would take a very long time and I'm not sure that I am going to do it anytime soon. LOL! ;)

Which Hair Dye? | Curls of Innocence

Do ya'll like me with this green hair or do you like the blonde better? I'm just curious. LOL!

Not sure what color to do next when I get tired of the green.

Do you dye your hair? What color and how do you maintain it? Any issues? Talk to meh about your curls!

GREEN Natural Hair! SPLAT Color REVIEW

September 10, 2015
Hiya, curly mamas!
For those inquiring about my green hair. it was a complete 'happy accident'. I originally wanted to try blue, so I bought this Splat semi-permanent hair dye from Walgreens in the middle of looking for my regular blonde color. I didn't find my shade and brand, so I saw this and grabbed it. I had been wanting to try a new color for a while, anyway. So I said, why not?

Color name: Aqua Rush
Price: between 10 & 14 bucks

This video is when I picked up the dye. Remember when I said that I had a surprise for you guys? Hehe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZjCq_3rlLU

This video is the whole process of what I did when I dyed it! :)

So, I had kind of already expected my hair to turn 'greenish'. It turned green because the blonde color in my hair was more of a golden color instead of blonde. It wasn't platinum blonde or anything. I had a feeling that it would turn out something other than the blue on the box, so I was already expecting that. But I didn't expect to love it as much as I did! It's a pretty green, though, grass green. I didn't mind as long as it wasn't 'dung green'. LOL!

If I had a blow dryer, I would have dyed my hair with the dye that was provided in the Splat box (which I was unaware of until after I'd opened it), dried my hair, then did the color right afterwards. But I didn't have the time that day to wait a whole day for my hair to dry after bleaching over my golden hair. I had to do the whole process when my hubby was home to help me and/or keep the kids completely out of my way while doing this. But oh well. It worked out anyway. Maybe I will do something different next time.
So, I loooooove my current look! I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about it and I'm pleased. I don't know if I will re- dye it this color when it fades (as it's already starting to do), but I will enjoy it while it lasts. It's about time I start experimenting with some 'off' colors. It's a way of self-expression that I wish I had a chance to do as a teenager. But oh well, it's all good. Being grown means that you can  pretty much express yourself however you like. Also, I am starting to make my own money now to try new things, so woo hoo! :-D #happymommy

This color is great. Like I mentioned, it's starting to fade. But that's to be expected. It isn't permanent and it has been over 3 weeks now.

Curly Clan Wash Day Diary: Part 2? Shunsleek Review

Hey, curlies! This post isn't going to be long, just a quick diary entry following the last post.
Well, of course, it's been weeks since then, but oh well. I've been super busy lately, and blogging has not been on my priority list!
Anyway, I tried the Shunsleek hair care products. I got these from the World Natural Hair Show in April. I've been using them on the kids hair since then, and I finally did a full review on it.

Yeah, they weren't all that. The spritzes barely did anything for our hair. The coconut detangler worked well, though.

I was so disappointed because this company did not do well with their presentation. Apparently, they need a graphic designer, because the way they designed the bottles, as you can see in the video, is not up to par. Also, there is NO excuse for the amount of misspellings on that one container!
Anyway, enough criticisms. There's my review on Symari's wash day, I hope you enjoy! Tell me what you think.

My QUICK Length Check & Babies' Styles

Hey, curlies! Quick length check for me here...

Epic business lately. Juggling 4 kids and trying to get a business running with no break is NOT easy. Here are some random hair pics from the last two weeks.
#protective style

The kids

I did a video recently where I had the two oldest kids doing Symari's hair. LMAO!

Sorry for the random post, but that's all I have for the moment. Don't worry; hair tips and suggestions will return.

Vanity Isn't Everything + ANNOUNCEMENT!

Heya, curlies! Just wanted to show you some updated styles that I've done on my daughters.
Riah Chic's hair is doing well lately, still moist and growing. This hairstyle was done using my trusty Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and my own whipped shea butter. I'm getting so much better at corn braiding... been practicing random twists and curves and parts.I am curious to see how long Riah's hair it'll get before it stays at a certain length. She's always happy about her hair touching her butt. lol
I have to be careful not to let her get too vain about it, though. Kids will do that in a heartbeat and not know any better. When she was a bit younger, like last year when she had just turned four, she'd be in the store, sometimes yelling out, "My hair is so long!" "My hair is so pretty!" How embarrassing. So through homeschooling, I am giving her more to brag to people about besides her hair length. Ain't having no spoiled, overly vain kids lol! I am showing her that vanity isn't everything, and that it's not nice to show off (unless in a beauty pageant) or brag.

Little Mari's hair has been growing exponentially as well! She is 21 months old now and loves getting her hair done, unless she has some tangles, of course. But she barely cries when she does have them because I get them out gently. My girls have the exact same hair texture. My son did have the same texture, but through cutting it, it's gotten thicker, so now he has more of my mixed hair texture than my husbands', which means his hair isn't very fine anymore. I did this style on damp hair and used the products from above, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and my own whipped shea butter, like the style above.

Oh, and I have an announcement to make! I've already told Facebook, might as well do it here as well. ;) See pic below:

Yes, we are preggo with baby number FOUR! Don't ask what gender; don't know yet. Had some long, drawn out insurance issues, so I have yet to have an ultrasound. I'm currently 27 weeks preggo, and I'm hoping that it's a boy. So excited to finally find out soon! I'll know sometime in March for sure.
If it's another girl, then I'll have some serious hair battles to face... between my hair, Riah Chic's hair, Mari's hair, and the new baby's hair. And let's not forget Jam's little rat tail and hubby's home haircuts. Time for Riah to start doing her own hair LMAO! #joking #SheAintready #butneitheramI O_O

Peace out till later, folks!
