Hey guys! Here is a video I did where I talked about things I no longer to do my hair... as a SAHM.
In case you don't know what SAHM stands for, it's stay at home mom. lol
I filmed this last month, but I am posting it here now because as usual, I'm behind on this blog. But I hope you enjoy the video! Are you a busy mom? What are some things you don't have time for anymore as far as your hair?
Hey, curly mamas! Take a look at this shampoo review that I did. It's the Tresemme Keratin shampoo and conditioner.
It's not the most thorough review in the world, but it's all good. That's all I had time to do. Still feels amazing. But remember; the shampoo has sulfates, so it's not good to use on a weekly basis. Just because I say that it feels like a co-wash doesn't mean that it should be used like one. It will still dry your hair out in time. So be wise and use your sulfate-free shampoos for most of your hair washes!
Hiya, guys! Pardon me for not blogging about this video when I first posted it about a month ago, but I've just been running around so much, getting things done in life that it slipped my mind. I am sorry for neglecting this blog! I am working on it. lol Anyway, I made a video talking about Kelapo Ghee butter and how it has natural fats in it to help an underweight child gain weight.
It really works! I've had no issues with it no dairy related issues. I am impressed and will continue to use it.
Hey, curly mamas! Today, I will be demonstrating how I did a very simple protective style in Symari's hair. It was simple because I had just washed and conditioned her hair, and also detangled it while styling. I'm all about my simplicity these days. My hands are very full right now. All the time. lol
I hope that you guys know how to flat twist because you can do so many cute styles doing so. It's the best alternative to cornbraiding, if you'd rather not learn how to do that. I love flat twisting. So much quicker and there's also 2 ways of going about it.
I hope that you guys enjoy the video and think of your own creative ways to do long term styles for your kids. Follow us on Instagramfor DAILY posts on hair, health, & homeschooling! :)
Hiya, guys! If you've been following me on Instagram and Youtube, then you have seen me talk about this company called Influenster. I signed up with them and immediately got a free beauty box full of goodies! The stipulation is that I have to review them with my honest reviews, but that's not hard, right?
I will be reviewing some of these products here and on YouTube. More than likely, it won't be the food items, but the beauty things, indefinitely. If you would like a free box as well, sign up for Influenster here! It's free, I swear. No gimmicks, no spam, no credit card info. All they want is your review of the product and you'll earn credits to be eligible for the next month's Voxbox.
I hope that you like the video and consider joining. Thanks for watching and reading! More is coming soon.
Hey, curly mamas! Today I am bringing you a video on Symari's first hair straightening. This is her absolute first time getting this done! If you recall, I already blow dried her hair for the first time earlier this year and it was a success.
For flat ironing, I wanted to wait as long as possible before doing so, because when Syriah was about 2.5 or 3, I'd flat ironed her hair to see how long it was and at the time, I didn't know what I was doing as far as natural hair care yet. Her hair was already damaged prior to this... this was the VERY beginning of the natural hair movement... about 2009-2010ish. I didn't want to do the same to my second daughter, EVEN though when she was born, I'd already been through 2 kids and knew way more about natural hair care than I did with Syriah. There was no reason to flat iron a 3 year old's hair, so I waited till she was 5.
So I hope that you guys enjoyed the video! Comment below or on the video if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for reading!
Hey, curly mamas! Take a look at my newest hairstyle video that I did with Syriah.
It's kinda fancy, but simple at the same time. I don't blow dry her hair often. In fact, this is only the second time I've given her a blowout. But I did it for the sake of keeping this style in for a week as well as doing other styles afterwards. It did last me a week, thank goodness. I was proud. Also, it's way easier to cornbraid on semi-straight hair.
I didn't put too many words or descriptions in this video because it didn't really need it. Everything I did was self explanatory. If you guys have an questions, ask away! Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading and watching!
Hey, curly mamas! Today in this video, I am showing you how I stretch my baby's curls with whipped shea butter.
It's pretty simple to do this with Kyanah's hair, and very effective. I don't stretch her hair often, though. No point in doing so. Her hair stays in wash and gos most of the time. But occasionally, I do a style. I'm just glad that it's now long enough for a ponytail!
Subscribe to the channel for more baby hair tips! There is a playlist strictly for baby hair care here.
Still doing it! I have not given up yet. My legs are transforming, but this is very painful, as you might imagine. But I'm proud of myself for taking it on and continuing!
Today is day 12, which is rest day. I'm happy for rest day. I've been doing other stretches and exercises daily, so I use this rest day to rest completely with the exception of daily stretching. I HAVE to do that. My body cannot get tense ever again! It's a HABIT for real!
If you follow me on Instagram (Curls of Innocence), you may have seen today's post already about it!
I might do a Youtube video on it soon, if I get the chance. We're currently in the process of moving, so a lot of things will be on hold. If you want to start this challenge, go for it and let me know! Peace out till later!
Hey, guys! If you want homeschool only posts, I made a new blog for that, as I should have done a long time ago. I have a homeschool Tumblr, but I don't update there often. If you are interested in homeschool posts only, follow the NEW blog here and keep up with our updates when the school year begins! http://uncagedlearninghomeschool.blogspot.com
Also, follow us on Instagram for school AND hair updates daily.
Hey curly mamas! So I did my first facial mask ever. It's kind of a shame that I hadn't ever done one. Just didn't cross my mind. lol
If you watch the video, you will see how this fancy product looked and worked on me. I don't need anything anti-aging, but I wasn't going to waste this stuff, regardless! Watch below to see how expensive this thing is!
I more than likely won't be using this on a consistent schedule. but it doesn't really matter. As long as I used it up before it expires. I have more of these Seacret products. I tried to sell them on Ebay, but the market value has fallen online, so no one bought them. Oh well, more for me! Haha!
Hey curlies! I have been on a weight loss/fitness journey for a while now. I recently started a new squat challenge to try something new and challenge myself. I haven't given up and I'm on day 5!
Honestly, I didn't think I'd make it to day 5 because I sit down waaaaay too much at the moment. But I've been doing better. It's hard when you're dealing with depression and anxiety. However, I have been making a huge effort to stretch several times a day because my body gets really stiff and I hate that now. This squat challenge is pushing me to my limits and I love it! I have to thank my only friend (thanks, Starr!) for inspiring me to try it, because hell, I've been seeing these memes for years, but never had the motivation to actually do it instead of sitting around and wishing. LOL
So my poor legs have been burning like crazy, but I am not going to stop. My knees especially need this workout. I have fat around my knees and that isn't good. You can't tell, but I have cellulite everywhere on my legs. It's painful and ugly and I am ready to get rid of it. I'm also working on my belly because that's where the majority of my weight lies. I don't look as if I'm 175 pounds, but I am. After having 5 kids, that's pretty good, though. lol
Well, that's my update on this. I will keep it up. I mentioned this on Instagram already. If you guys want to join in, let me know, or if you're advance, you can start today on day 5 and we can work it together! I know a lot of people need motivation to get moving because it's very hard these days to stick to anything when you have so many distractions.
Here is a video on an 'unboxing of these new beauty products that I was given recently. I will have an actual review soon! I just haven't edited it yet. But it will be up soon. I am excited because these are high end products that I wouldn't normally be able to afford. LOL!
If you haven't seen this in my videos and on Instagram, my Curls of Innocence growth oil will be available for sale on the website soon! It was supposed to be sooner, but I've been going through a lot of financial issues that put them on hold. But they will be available this summer still. A lot of people have been asking when I am going to create more products, like my old whipped shea butter. I'm working on it! I have five kids; it's going to take a minute for me to get it together, but I promise I will.
Hey curly mamas! My son's are gone! I made a video doing it and explained why as well. It was just time. He enjoyed the process and was happy about it. It's been two years, but I'm happy about the decision. Watch here to see the video on YouTube!
Hey curlies! I posted a new video about my hair again. I didn't make a blog post about the last video because I've been insanely busy, but no one had any questions for me, so I'll just leave it at that.
I'm on a new growth journey to figure out how long my hair can get if I DON'T trim or cut. So far, I haven't trimmed or cut since 2017 began. I've had a few major cuts and I don't want to do any more. Follow me on Instagram for daily updates... (Curls of Innocence)
Check out the video for more details on this new journey and also some mini product reviews!
Hey guys! So, I know that everyone has already heard about the whole Shea Moisture fiasco, with the new ad showcasing Caucasian women instead of us. I already made a video about this topic, so if you have not yet seen it, here it is.
This topic has pretty much died down now, but I still feel the same way. I am still limiting my Shea Moisture purchases from here on out. This company was built on the backs of blacks, and yet again, it's being stripped away from us as usual. I don't support that! Hope you enjoy the video.
I have not been writing in this blog lately. I've been finding ways to balance my time since having baby #5 around. I will get it together. Life hasn't been very favorable this year, but it'll all mellow out. I am still making videos for your guys, just not as consistent at the moment.
Follow me on Instagram and Facebook @ Curls of Innocence! Peace.
I wanted to share these pictures just to say how much LOVE braided buns. They're simple and they protect the ends of your braids, or twists, if you do those instead. The patterns of the braid looks pretty all wrapped up in a bun. You can do as many braids as you want and then jazz then up by bunning some of them. It's so cute!
Hey guys. For those of you who don't know about my family vlog channel, here it is. I haven't had much of a chance to vlog lately because life's been some kind of hectic, but if you haven't caught up on the old vlogs, now's your chance!
As far as the hair channel, I will be taking a little break from video editing and filming. I am having complete burnout, and again, life's been, well, life. So I'll be taking a break, but will be back. I'm not going to disappear into the shadows like a lot of YouTubers who take breaks and don't show back up for 6 months. LOL
I've been working on doing a lot more style videos than normal just to see if I can reach a bigger audience on YouTube... because let's be real. Having only 1,000 subbies after almost 4 years of hard work on this channel does a lot of damage to my... well, self-gratification.
I know that my videos are good and well put together; however, I don't have the capital to put money into YT... and I'm definitely not getting any in return right now. Sigh... suggestions, anyone?
Anyway, here are the last two videos showing the styles that I've been doing on my girls this winter so far.
I hope you guys enjoy them! Nothing spectacular, just styles that makes me stay out of their hair for up to two weeks. A lot of times, the flyaways and frizz don't allow the style to last for two weeks, or ever one full week for that matter, but I don't really have a choice lately. I have a lot going on in life at the moment, and I need to keep their hair pinned up as much as possible.
I've been loving that Cantu Natural Line... if I'm not using that particular Cantu product, then it's the Cantu Kids hair care line. I love both of them. Very moisturizing, minimal build-up.
I don't do many styles on them with a million and one hair ties and hair bows, because frankly, we don't go out much! There's no point in doing fancy things all the time when it'll be a hassle to take down at night so they won't sleep in hair bubbles/knockers/whatever you'd like to call them. I simply can't deal with all that. Haha!
So lots of braids, cornbraids, and flat twists is what I've been doing lately. And I'm very proud of them. If you like the videos, please like, subscribe, and share! I appreciate it. :)
Here is my latest video where I do a length check on Symari, which I haven't ever done. Not formally measuring with measuring tape. Her hair is longer than I thought, beating Syriah's record of how long hers was when SHE was four. That's because with Syriah, I was new to learning natural hair care and it was in recovery mode, but Symari's has never been 'damaged'.
So it has had time to grow to it's fullest potential. It's flourishing. Her hair is much finer than her sister's and grows in that traditional V shape that most people's hair grows in. I may straighten it soon to get a definite length check number... if I can get around to it. lol
Someone asked me about my routine for her hair, but it's pretty simple. I may do a video on it soon, but it's pretty simple. Wash and condition once a week with a gentle shampoo ( mostly sulfate free), condition with Tresemme, finger detangle, rinse, oil her scalp with my holy grail oil, and then put it up into a protective style for the week using the most gentle products I can afford. (Cantu, Shea Moisture, Eden Bodyworks) I keep it in braids so it won't get tangled, and sometimes I'll redo the style throughout the week. The style at the end of the video is an example of the kind of styles I'm referring to.
For the new year, there will be more hair videos coming up. I will also do updates on my weight loss journey and all that other fun stuff. I will do better with posting here more often. Stay tuned! ;)
