╰☆╮The Origin of CI and Other Random Hair News

Heya, curlies! I'm not going to write a long post here, because this video that I created is self-explanatory. It's the origin of this company, basically how it was founded, how I came up with it and all of the artwork that I have done for this website. It's my longest video yet, but I hope you enjoy anyway! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itjls49tWFc

P.S.: I did mini braids in my hair again! I'm going to make this a habit now to do them at least every other month to retain length and (try to) keep my hands out of my hair so much. Because I'm home a lot, all I have time to do is play with my hair. No bueno. :/
I cornbraided my dad's hair the other day. It was so challenging because it was the nappiest head I've ever worked in! I say that as if I'm a hair stylist who's done thousands of heads... not the case. But he has natural hair (only on the sides of his head because of male pattern baldness) that he doesn't know how or have time to take care of properly, so it gets SUPER dry and knotted up. Took me 30 minutes to detangle each section I worked in, and it still had knots. Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming leave in was a miracle for his hair; it was so matted!
Oh, well, I tried. Still came out okay. These braids will probably be in his head for another month. LOL!
Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show is coming up on October 12-13th! Omg, I can't wait! I hope that I can go, because life has thrown me lots of curveballs lately and I'm not sure if I will make it for transportation AND financial reasons. But if so, I will be uber happy.

That's it for my little random update. Peace out til later, folks!

Protective Cornrow Hairstyle for Girls

Hello, guys! It had been a while since I did any new 'fancy' hairstyles on Syriah because we haven't really gone anywhere lately, so I decided to do one. This style took a little over an hour and should last about a week or so.
It was an easy protective style. Cornrows are always easy to me, and I love parting. Now, I have to get better at corn braiding because I still suck at it. But once I really get it, my styles will be even better.
But, yeah. The pic speaks for itself. I hope that you guys enjoy. The CI whipped butter is for sale right now if you like.

Peace out, curly mamas!

New Hairstyles and... Dandruff?

So, I've been doing it up with Sy's hair lately. Random hairstyles. I have to find time to put the pics together and update them here. Sometimes it takes forever. I'll have several new styles siting on my computer for weeks at a time because I'm so busy and tired lately. But I have some to show now... finally. Hope you enjoy!
The second style on the first pic was when her hair was straight, and so was the second picture. I had never gotten a 'perfect' curved part before, so I surprised myself when I actually got it. So she had an S for her name. She loved it!
Now I need to practice my cornbraiding. I put cornbraids in Sy's hair recently, but they were a bit sloppy looking. Her hair is so silky. What makes it worse is that I can't stand doing anything on dry hair anymore, so I have to put something on her hair to moisturize before braiding. My hands are always slipping all over the place. Sigh... practice makes perfect. lol
I made another batch of my shea mixture a few days ago, and I added another ingredient... honey. Just wanted to try it out. I don't notice a difference in texture, but that's probably a good thing.
Tip of the Day: Best way to combat dandruff is to of course, constantly moisturize! By moisturize, I mean water and water-based natural oils or products. I've heard that tea tree oil works great; haven't used it yet, though. DO NOT use anything with petroleum jelly. It will only clog your pores and make your hair and scalp feel overly greasy, and it will attract dirt as well. So all you grease lovers... yeah. Back away from the Blue Magic and grab some EVOO and water! If your daughter has excessive dandruff, any type of grease will probably make it worse. I know it did back in the day when I used to use grease. Oh, and gentle brushing will definitely help. Use a boar's head brush only. It's soft and gentle to the scalp and the dandruff will fall right out.
Syriah barely has dandruff anymore because of how I moisturize her hair. I might see some flakes in her hair like, once a week, and that's usually before hair wash day.
Alrighty guys, I'm out. Enjoy the hairstyles. Tips? Comments? Let me know! =)
Peace out, curly mamas!

Hairstyle Fun & Length Check

On my birthday, I played with my hair until I found something new and random to do with it. It didn't look half bad. I pinned up one side of my curly fro with one of those hair clamps and left the rest out. You know, sometimes I hate that I have two textures of hair, but we probably all do and don't even realize it. Might as well embrace it. It can be frustrating though, when you can get certain parts of your hair to do something and the other parts won't seem to behave. Bleh. I know there are ways to tame that, though. I'm working on my hair at the same time I'm working on Syriah's, but I don't even see two different textures in her hair, at least not right now. Hopefully as she gets older, her hair texture won't change. Probably won't, because hubby's hair is still just as soft and silky as it was when he was young, always has been. I'm... not too sure about mine. lol

I also attempted corn braiding on Sy's hair... again. I'm not very proficient at corn braiding yet, so it didn't look all that to me. I did it anyway. My mom and sister said they liked it anyway. Ha! I have to keep practicing.
I decided to do my entire head in my signature twists the next day as a protective hairstyle. Took an hour and half. Back before I cut over 6 inches of hair off last year, twisting my 16-inch locks took nearly 3 hours. So the time has been practically cut in half, which is great. My arms get way too tired now anyway, being at the end of my pregnancy. I did another length check as well. Impressive. About bra strap length. Doesn't seem like my hair is that long, because of that little thing we all hate called shrinkage. Gotta love it, right?
Hopefully this style will last for two weeks. If not, I'll take it out and wear the twist out version for 3 days like I always do, and I sleep with my silk hair cap so the moisture stays in. It still looks great days later sometimes.

I used the new Shea Moisture curl cream to twist these, along with sealing the ends with evoo (extra virgin olive oil). My hair felt very lightweight and smelled like coconuts. Yum. Tonight is Syriah's next hair wash, so I'm going to try the Shea Moisture shampoo in her hair for the first time. It was awesome in mine, so I'm pretty sure it'll be just as good in hers.
This is Syriah's hair a few days ago when I applied the Shea Moisture curl stuff. Her curls lasted the entire day of her playing outside and the next day. Impressive.
Well, that's my little update. Questions or comments? Leave below or follow on Facebook! =) See ya!
