Curly Clan Wash Day Diary: Part 1

Today,  I washed someone's hair! One of the kids, of course. Can you guess who it was? Can you?
Okay, that was a little lame. LOL! It was Jamian's little curls. His hair was very dirty. In the last video I did of him, I didn't exactly get around to washing his hair yet.

So this was the last video before the one I filmed this afternoon. I wanted to use one of the million sample hair products that I had gotten from the hair show, so I fished around for a shampoo packet. I couldn't find one! I only found the 10 in 1 Shea Moisture renewal shampoo and deep conditioner packet that I was reserving to use on myself. I have tried the deep co before, and I loved it. But the sample packet was way too little to ever use on my hair, even though the shampoo was extremely sudsy on Jam's hair. So I ended up using that shampoo and the deep co on him. It was so soft and wonderful!
Afterwards, I used the Taliah Waajid Easy Herbal Comb Out in his hair as a wash and go style. I have used this stuff in the past, and it's absolutely wonderful for detangling! However, his hair didn't even need much detangling considering that I finger detangled his hair in the shower with the shampoo and the deep co, because it had sooooo much wonderful slip to it. This Shea Moisture line is the bomb, yo! I need to buy some more of this stuff whenever possible. Whenever Walgreens has another 50% of sale. Hehe.
I'll be editing the video of this wash day very soon, so stay tuned for part 2 and more pics and vids! ;)
Peace out, curly mamas!

Oh! And take a peek at my latest homeschooling video if you're interested.

WORLD NATURAL HAIR SHOW VLOG! Spring 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpjDhUz85nc

Hey, peeps! Check out my vlog for the World Natural Hair Show! I had a ton of fun, even though I decided to bring the kids, considering that they don't get out much. I think they had more fun than I did. More pics on my Instagram page, epic.realist! :D

I got to meet Natural Neicey there! One of my favorite natural hair vloggers! She was soooo sweet, and her big hair was gorgeous. Already looking forward to the next show in October!

Got a BUNCH pf products for 60 bucks! That's what I love about these hair shows; everything is on SALE! Mega sale! The Jane Carter stuff was only 5 bucks each! OMG! So, keep an eye out on my channel for product reviews! They'll be a lot of them coming soon.

Peace out, curly mamas!

Hair Show Goodies & Shea Moisture Color?

Morning, curly mamas! I really enjoyed the hair show this month. There was a brunch first, where Coco Natural's (Natural Hair Freedom) meet up group met to eat and enjoy hair talk from a few YouTube hair celebrities. The restaurant was packed; there was at least 50 naturalistas in there. They even ran out of chairs! After that, we all went to the hair show in our separate cars.
Syriah was my little marketer, even though at first, that wasn't my intention. I brought business cards to give out, and I just randomly thought of the idea to have her give them out to the ladies instead of me. You know how it is; it's hard to say no to a cute little child with gorgeous hair. Not to brag, but hey.
Syriah did a great job of handing out the cards. She passed out over 30 of them to anyone who paid her any attention, and even other strangers without me reminding her. She would insist that everyone have a card. She had a ball there.
I even met Afrikanhairgod! :)
So I only had a small amount of money to spend this time (bummer), but I went to the hair show with the sole purpose of getting some Shea Moisture hair color. Since I hadn't had a chance to get to Target, I knew that they'd have some for sale at the show. Because of the brunch, I was afraid that they'd be sold out because the brunch lasted from 10:00-12:00, and we didn't get to the convention center until 1:00 because everyone was standing around, chatting. This color system is new and popular, and only sold in Target as of now. But they weren't sold out. I was able to get two Shea Moisture things, the Yucca and Baobab Anti Breakage Masque and some hair color! I was ecstatic. It was 10 bucks, 5 bucks less that it would have been at Target.
I was skeptical as to which color to get, because I want either a medium brownish color or a slight reddish color. I was leaning more towards the brown, so I talked with the Shea Moisture consultants and they suggested this color. I was scared because it said blonde, but she informed me (and every other worried woman) that this color would not make their hair blonde unless their hair was already light brown from the start. This color only lifts your hair about two shades lighter from the color it started with. So I said, okay. I'll give it a try.
Then she told me that because of my hair length, I'd have to get TWO boxes of color, and that it would be 20 bucks. I was like awww maaaan... I didn't have twenty bucks. I'd already bought one thing and I had ten bucks left to spend. I didn't think that I'd need two because I have a lot of hair. So I got this one anyway and decided that I'd just dye the ends of my hair only... maybe. I'll have to see how much is really in the bottle.
I got tons of samples there, too. Click the link for the other pictures that I took. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.447479738672205.1073741825.256662627753918&type=1

Shea Moisture Anti Breakage Masque Review
I have already tried the Anti Breakage Masque yesterday as a deep conditioner. I left it in for an hour with a bag over my head, and when I washed it out, it was absolutely AWESOME! I can honestly say that this is the best conditioner/deep conditioner that I have ever purchased. I am in LOVE with it. It gives my hair the blow-dried look and softness without blow drying, and it's also a protein treatment. I haven't put anything else in my hair since the deep conditioner, and my hair stayed baby soft and de-tangled in twists all night and dried. The reason I didn't apply anything else in my head is obvious; because I am going to try the color system today and I want my hair to be completely free of product. :-)
So, my three toddlers are going down for a nap in about thirty minutes, and then there will be peace and quiet for me to to do my thing. I need absolute concentration when doing something like this for the first time. I have already done the skin test... no allergic reactions. Hooray! I'm counting down the minutes until I can finally use some color and give myself a whole new look!
Wish me luck, guys. You know I'll be posting pics if this comes out right. ;-)
Peace out till later, folks!

Work-out Hair and... World Natural Hair Show!

Hiya, curlies! I am showing you guys how I wore my hair yesterday when I went outside to work out. Hubby and I rode our bikes alone for the first time EVER, since my mother in law had the kids for two days. Woo hoo! So we rode a long way together and back, adding to my 'biking every other day' routine that I've been doing for the last few weeks to get in shape and lose weight.
It was beyond time for my hair to be washed already since I didn't do it on Monday or Sunday, so I prepped my hair with coconut oil as my pre-poo. Then I put it into a high puff ponytail, somewhat like the 'pineappling' method. A lot of the oil dripped down my neck when I went outside in the sun, but I didn't care. I wasn't trying to look that cute. O_O
After biking and hiking for nearly three hours, we got home and I hopped in the shower. Washed my hair like normal. Then I conditioned it using the last of my Roots of Nature Green Tea conditioner. My hair felt awesome and sweat-free. It fell like it always falls when I use coconut oil before washing it, although overnight results are always better. My hair is also shedding a lot less since taking vitamins. Yay for results once again!
Well, besides all that, I have some excitement going on for once. The Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show is coming back to Atlanta in two days! It's the spring one this time. I've been waiting for this event ever since I left the fall one in October. I'm quite sure that I'll have more fun this time than I did last time because not only do I know what to expect, but I have lots of people to meet on Saturday from a meet-up. So I definitely won't be lonely. :-)
Yes, I am bringing little Syriah with me again, because she had a ball last time and I want her to be involved in the natural hair beauty at a young age. Plus, she doesn't get out of the house much right now, she's four years old, and LOVES people. So she's excited about going with me.

So, I am super excited for Saturday. Two more days until the spring show!
Talk to you curlies... um, more than likely when I get back on Saturday. Hehe.

Peace out!

World Natural Hair Show 2012!

The World Natural Hair Show sponsored by Taliah Waajid was awesome! I brought Syriah along with me, and we hung out for hours. It was like heaven in there... hair products, skin products, jewelry, music, and other random products for sale. Hubby let me splurge because it was my first 'real' time out of the house in months, so I spent almost 70 bucks in natural hair products and jewelry. It was so worth it!
If you look closely at the pictures, I bought the Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream, the Jamaican Mango and Lime Springing Gel, the Tropic Isle Living Black Castor Oil, and the III Sisters of Nature Natural Lengthening Cream. I have never previously tried any of these products, and I have never heard of the III Sisters products at all. Apparently, they do knock-offs of Kinky-Kurly and Miss Jessie's products. I have used this cream already, and it's great. The smell if out of this world... it smells like raspberry sherbet!
No lie. The smell is GREAT, and it stretches your hair!
I also got lots of samples of other hair products and lotions, and I got the hair show T-shirt and I got another T-shirt for free with the III Sisters product.

Syriah had a good time being out of the house. She and I were kind of matching with our clothes, only she had on mostly pink and I had mostly blue.
The winner of the natural contest was there, and she spoke on stage, looking very pretty. I think her name was Jessica Williams. I think I might enter one of those contests for next year, and hope to win mounds of cash, a year of Taliah Waajid products for free, and become a spokesperson for them. Sounds like fun. Hehe. =D
So we had a great time. They even had a little kid's corner there for kids to be creative and do some arts and crafts and play video games. Syriah loved it.

As if I wasn't happy enough, when hubby picked me up and took me home, he had a surprise waiting for me.. roses, a cheesecake, some jewelry, and the sweetest card I'd ever seen! <3 I was almost in tears. My life had been so rough and emotional lately, and I hadn't been happy in a long time. But that day was really awesome.
Oh, and I will sure be attending the spring hair show, since it's at the same place next year! =D
Peace, curly mamas!

My First Hair Show... and New Curly Style!

I am super excited! Tomorrow, Saturday, October 6th & the 7th, 2012, there will be a natural hair show being hosted at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. I am so grateful to live near this event, so I am going and I am taking my big girl Syriah Lynn. There are going to be so many hair products for sale and so much to do. It's going to be like heaven! http://www.naturalhairshow.org/
This is the first time I have ever been to a hair show, period, and the first time I've got a chance to really get out of the house in ages.
I have a new style that I made up on Syriah the other day. I used my shea butter on damp hair and flat twisted in two different directions. Looked really cute and lasted three days. It would have been longer, but I took them out because I wanted to style her hair in advance yesterday for the hair show. I did mine the same way... co-washed my hair with my new conditioner and twisted my hair with the Shea Moisture Smoothie and EcoStyler gel I used for my last twist-out in my video. Can't wait to see the results tomorrow!
I will probably make another blog post tomorrow after I attend this hair show and go broke buying a million hair products. I get to splurge. Woo hoo!
Until next time, curly mamas! Stay natural!
