No Natural Hair Videos? O_o
Hey curly mamas! I did another video on baby hair care. Sorry I haven't been doing many hair videos about MY hair. Truth be told, I haven't been doing too much with my own hair. I'm way too busy with kids and being 32 weeks preggo now. :/
I'll get back to my own real routine at some point, but right now, it'll be mostly the kiddos hair being shown.
Has anyone tried any new products lately? I'm still loving the Taliah Waajid products for the Memorial Day sale. One has actually come very close to running out. Having curly hair can be challenging with all the false claims that these products have. I'm still sort of a product junkie, but there are certain ingredients that I will never touch.

Syriah's 2nd Length Check! WAIST LENGTH!
Hola, you curly naturals!
I'm doing a short update on Syriah's hair length. Her last length check was in October 2012.
Her routine/regimen is pretty much still the same as I updated it last time, but I've been using random samples from the hair show on her just to try them. Taliah Waajid's kid's line is pretty awesome. That Easy Herbal Comb Out is silky, has no chemicals, and smells soooooo good. I might actually have to pick it up in Walmart one day if I see it. Looks like she can rock a wash and go with that stuff. ;-)

So now, it's May and I have done another one. Her hair has seriously grown in 7 months!
It's 18 inches long, which is ironically the same length as my hair, but because she's shorter, of course, it'll be waist length on her. I am totally impressed with myself and how I've been taking care of it!

As you can see, I'll be using my new logo on my pictures and what not. Free marketing! I have jars of my whipped shea butter here for 12 dollars if anyone cares to know how I got Syriah's hair this long and healthy. Questions or comments? Hit me up! Peace out, curly mamas!

World Natural Hair Show 2012!
If you look closely at the pictures, I bought the Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream, the Jamaican Mango and Lime Springing Gel, the Tropic Isle Living Black Castor Oil, and the III Sisters of Nature Natural Lengthening Cream. I have never previously tried any of these products, and I have never heard of the III Sisters products at all. Apparently, they do knock-offs of Kinky-Kurly and Miss Jessie's products. I have used this cream already, and it's great. The smell if out of this world... it smells like raspberry sherbet!
No lie. The smell is GREAT, and it stretches your hair!
I also got lots of samples of other hair products and lotions, and I got the hair show T-shirt and I got another T-shirt for free with the III Sisters product.
Syriah had a good time being out of the house. She and I were kind of matching with our clothes, only she had on mostly pink and I had mostly blue.
The winner of the natural contest was there, and she spoke on stage, looking very pretty. I think her name was Jessica Williams. I think I might enter one of those contests for next year, and hope to win mounds of cash, a year of Taliah Waajid products for free, and become a spokesperson for them. Sounds like fun. Hehe. =D
So we had a great time. They even had a little kid's corner there for kids to be creative and do some arts and crafts and play video games. Syriah loved it.
As if I wasn't happy enough, when hubby picked me up and took me home, he had a surprise waiting for me.. roses, a cheesecake, some jewelry, and the sweetest card I'd ever seen! <3 I was almost in tears. My life had been so rough and emotional lately, and I hadn't been happy in a long time. But that day was really awesome.
Oh, and I will sure be attending the spring hair show, since it's at the same place next year! =D
Peace, curly mamas!

Happy Fourth of July!
Happy 4rth of July, everyone! I really wish I knew how to do one of those fancy hairstyles that I've seen other people do, you know, the ones where they put big corn-braided stars in their daughter's hair. It looks really difficult, and I haven't had much time to even try it. much less practice it. But they look awesome.
Doesn't matter, though. I'm not big on holidays anyway. LOL! It just would have been another new hairstyle to practice and perfect.
On another note, I have a picture to show of Syriah's puffball that she wore yesterday to a kid's play place called Kids Planet. It surprisingly still looked good after her playing around for four hours.
I used Eco Styler gel in her hair for the first time ever, along with some shea butter. Loved the results! I'm not looking forward to washing her hair again when I can, because the new shampoo that I've been trying isn't working all that well. It's a brand called Organix, and their coconut shampoo isn't as moisturizing as I would have liked. I only got it in the first place because last time I went to Walgreens to get my Shea Moisture shampoo, they were fresh out... of that and the other curling stuff they have. Both of them were gone, and when I asked an employee about it, they said that the truck hadn't come in yet with another stock.

Figures. This whole natural kick is going viral, and every natural product ever created is beginning to fly off the shelves lately. Walmart had better get with it! They're beginning to, though. I've heard that they now carry Taliah Waajid products now, even though I think that brand has way too many chemicals to be considered natural.
Well, I've got to roll now. It's dinner time. I cooked some good stuff... brown rice, sweet potatoes, and baked chicken! Haha!
Until next time, curly mamas!

New Hairstyle #2
Heya, guys! This may be my last update until my baby's born, because I'm 37 weeks and really close now. Been really busy and tired. Good thing hubby is able to be home with me now. =)
I have new hairstyle pics to show! =)
It's another style I created out of thin air the other day. I like to combine styles and mix it up sometimes. In the future, I may do tutorials on how to do certain styles if there are people who'd really like to try them and can't figure it out, but right now, I'm too camera shy to plaster myself on YouTube like that. LOL! Plus, these few styles are considered easy. Well, to me, that is.
I bought another Shea Moisture product from Walgreens a few days ago because the curling smoothie had finally run out after two months. Glad I was able to stretch it that long. I wanted to get it again, but it was gone, all out stock, along with the shampoo. Funny how natural hair is a really big hit nowadays. I refuse to buy it online; not worth the shipping costs when I can get it right up the street for 10 bucks. So I got the Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Hair Masque instead. I needed a deep conditioner anyway because my hair has been parched lately, especially with me being too tired to upkeep any kind of regimen. I haven't used it yet for deep conditioning purposes, but I look forward it. It can be used as a deep conditioner, where you leave it on for a certain time and rinse it out, and it can also be used as a leave in.

I put a little in my hair that evening around the edges and in the morning, my hair was extremely soft and moisturized! Some people say that it does better as a leave in than anything else, but hey, we shall see soon enough.
Syriah's hair has been growing. I love the health of her hair now, and I will stop at nothing to make sure that she doesn't lose her hair due to breakage or dryness. I have to remember to put a little something on her curls every day, whether it's a cream, oils to seal her dry ends, or my own whipped shea butter mixture. Same with Jamian, because his hair gets just as dry. His hair just isn't as long, and he's a boy, so it's not urgent.
Tip of the day: Don't be such a product junkie! You will end up wasting money. Find one brand at a time, test out whichever parts of it you'd like to try, and if you absolutely don't like it, then at least finish using it or give it to someone who could use it. I can't stand seeing women who go ahead and buy like five different types of products, use all of them during their next hair wash, and then get a bad result. Then they don't even know which product to even blame for their misfortune, because they used Shima oil before washing, then washed with Aubrey Organics shampoo, then used Kinky Kurly conditioner, then deep conditioned with Shea Moisture's Hair Masque, then used a Taliah Waajid product as a leave in. Please don't confuse yourself and try several different hair products at once, because more than likely, your hair will go into shell shock. And I don't blame it!
Well, that's my little update. Hopefully, next time you get a new post, it'll include a picture of my newest family member. Pray that I don't need another C-section, too. LOL!
Peace out till later, curly mamas! <3

Are You an Ingredient Snob?
So, tell me, are you guys 'ingredient snobs'? Do you bypass hair products with sulfates as long as everything else is organic or do you swear by sulfate free? What about parabens? I'm kind of on the 'half and half' side, but leaning more towards the ingredient snob area. Depends on what the product actually does for me.
If there's like, one off ingredient, I will overlook it and continue to use without worrying. After all, one little bad thing isn't going to kill me. We may avoid certain things on our hair and skin, but guess what. We may eat the same chemical in one of our many tainted foods, or something even worse that'll still enter our bloodstream. That's why I said, it depends on what the ingredient is. As far as sulfates, sulfate free shampoo is easy to find nowadays so I will always stick with that. Same for parabens.
I no longer use products with artificial colors and scents, or petroleum and waxes. I scan the ingredient list carefully before I buy something new for my hair and I weigh the costs. If I don't know what the ingredient is, I either research it or I don't buy it until I know what it does. This is why I have yet to try Taliah Waajid products, because a lot of their ingredients aren't organic and very questionable. They have petroleum and laureate sulfates. Doesn't mean the product isn't good or doesn't work; I'm just kind of picky when it comes to my family's hair and skin.
As usual, this is open for discussion. I want to hear your opinions! Are you an ingredient snob? Do you know someone who is? Do you know someone who has gone way too far with it? What harmful ingredients do you believe work for your hair no matter what? Let me know here or on Facebook!
