Changes and Setbacks?
Hiya, guys! I've been mega busy lately with these kids. Everyone's hair has been slacking a bit, including mine. After I had Jalani, who is 2 months old now, my hair has been suffering from me not taking the best care of it while pregnant because I was so overly tired.
I did not keep up on my deep conditioning, which has made my colored ends suffer. Bleh. Working on repairing that now.

Click the picture below for a video on how I touched up my color a few months ago!
The mini braids in this pic are out now though after having them in for 2 weeks.
So, anyway, I have been full swinging into YouTube now. Video editing is super fun, and I have tons of content to record if I think hard enough, so that is where a lot of my free time goes now. It's good in a way because it keeps me from gaming too much lol! https://www.youtube.com/curlsofinnocence
I have been doing the new 'Failed It or Nailed It' series that I mentioned last post. It's AWESOME!
The breakage that I had experienced in my hair a few months prior has been slowly getting better. I still have a lot of short pieces of hair, but it is growing back fast, and soon, I'll finally be able to blend it in with the rest of my hair again and it won't be sticking up all over the place like flyaways. Yay for progress there!
Syriah's hair has been super dry lately, but I don't have time to work deep conditioning into HER regimen. So I keep doing what I've been doing... protective styling mostly, leave ins every other day, water and AVJ spritz, oil mixture, shea butter on top. I've been slacking on her hair care because baby Lani, homeschooling them, and keeping the house clean has been taking up my time. :/
Symari's hair has definately felt the burn of not having her hair constantly moisturized. She has had severe matted bed hair every time I turn around, no matter what style I put it in! She sleeps super wild, which doesn't help at all.
Jam's hair is coming along and growing a lot! I love the new look he has going on. It's fun experimenting with his hair because he has 3C curls, unlike his sister's 3A-3B tresses.
In fact, he currently needs a haircut on the underside of his head again LOL!
That's all for now, folks! Hope you enjoyed this update. Peace out, curly mamas!

Rat Tails and Vlogs
Hey curlies, check out my video of my husband's hair getting cut... by ME! I gave him a rat tail again. Last time he had one, he had to cut it for job reasons. Now, there is no job issue. So enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDHSNSGpnNc
I have been trying to do a few vlogs as well just because. Here is the latest one. Enjoy the kiddos!

It's a BOY! (Plans and Birthday Hair)
Hola, curly mamas!
So from my pregnancy announcement from the last post, I found out shortly after that what the gender is. It's a BOY! Woo hoo! Just what we wanted. I had that feeling anyway, but hey, always better to know for sure than to speculate. My belly is extremely low, which happened to be another sign even though my pregnancy with Symari was also super low. (shrugs)
So I will have two girls and two boys. I love having it evened out; most people are surprised that it turned out that way. When it comes to pregnancy, we always get the gender we want, which is amazing. I'm way too excited for May to come now! (currently 29 weeks preggo)
As far as hair, I will see. I might let his hair grow out this time, like I originally wanted to do to Jam's but he was so tender-headed at the time. Plus, this was around the time when I didn't yet have the knowledge of natural hair that I do now, nor the money to invest in better products, so his hair was pretty much always a tangled mess. Yes, I did wet it before combing it, but he still screamed, cried and fought and at the time, I couldn't deal with it. So when he turned one, I did a botched up home haircut (I didn't own clippers at the time) with scissors and cut most of his hair off, with the exception of his rat tail. So his rat tail has been there since birth.

So like I said, we will see what's in store for boy #2. Depends on how much hair I can handle in this family LMAO! I've got mine, my two girls, Jam's hair that I'm currently growing out a bit to see if he'll tolerate it this time, and my hubby's haircuts, which aren't often, but still. Hair everywhere! lol
Since I now know how to corn braid fairly well, it'll be no problem putting the boys' hair in braids if I don't feel like dealing with their hair at the moment. My hair is almost waist length, and requires a lot of work; Syriah's is at butt length for her size. But I still enjoy doing my family's natural hair. It's therapeutic and makes me feel proud to not have to rely on a salon or a barber. ;)
I did a style re-creation thingee on my hair the other day, and I was able to see how far my hair has really come over the last two years. Wowzers! O_O

March 2012 March 2014, same style
Syriah turned FIVE years old on March 3rd! She's such a big girl now! I let her wear make up for the first time ever, and she LOVED it. I did what I did last year to her hair and 'carved' her age in it. But last year, I was a bit more successful in it that I was this year. The corn braided five didn't exactly come out the way I wanted it to. But oh well! I tried. lol

Mini Braid Takedown
Heya, curlies!
New video alert! I took down my mini braids. They lasted for two weeks and it was definitely time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orM2uu2vlJc&feature=c4-overview&list=UUq2NN4aY3jcyJ2TNTwMwQHA
Hope you enjoy! I'm trying to do at least two videos a week to get more of a following. I already have almost 850 likes on my Facebook Curls of Innocence page, but hardly any subscribers here on Blogger or on YouTube. So I did this video and another one showing Jam's rat tail, because I never show him in my vids. Silly boy.
Rate my videos, subscribe, and comment please! ;)
See ya soon!

RANDOM Hair Chat! (Fall 2013)
Heya, curlies! I have some random hair stuff to talk about. Brace yourselves for randomness! ;)
3. I have a million and one different textures of hair! I say that because I don't know for sure how many I actually have. Here are about 2 or 3 examples of my hair fresh out of the shower. The back of my hair is really tight, like the kitchen area. I just find it interesting...

5. Mari's hair is rapidly growing and healthy. I've been doing little baby hairstyles on her, styles that I didn't know how to do when Riah was a baby. She's 15 months old now, and is such a great sport about getting her hair done. She actually sits still... as long as she has something to play with. There's a video on YouTube (which they won't let me embed here, ugh) where I did her hair and she barely moved.

6. My hair doesn't like a lot of protein! I think that I've been figured this out months ago when I did the hair strand porosity test, but I never took it seriously as far as like, deep conditioning. Surely my hair can withstand a weekly deep condition with mayo, right? Not! I have tried it three times already, and each time, my hair was extremely crunchy and dry, lacking serious moisture after air drying it. I hate the feeling that my hair has after using mayo in it. It feels okay right after washing it out, when my hair is still wet, but when it dries, no matter what I put in it afterwards, my hair feels like a bird's nest with Brillo on top. >_>
I'm seriously going to stick with deep conditioners that don't have protein in them, like my Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque. Might even use that for my next natural hair lightening treatment (see previous posts). Other than that, my hair is growing and feeling great. Official length check will come again next month. Stay tuned for that!

7. Jam still has his little rat tail! It's growing, and it's becoming less of a priority to keep it moisturized nowadays because I'm working on me and the girls' hair more, but I do spritz water on it every few days and some leave in moisturizer or my whipped shea butter mix, or both depending on dryness level. I wash it at least once a week, even though he keeps his fat head on the floor constantly. I am still doing his at home haircuts... Mama knows best! ;)

1. I have a new video up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPuetgbe5AA Well, I have another one that I posted yesterday, but this one is a quick vlog about my beauty supply run. My kids are in it! Woo hoo! I have 16 videos up now and 30 subscribers. Working on getting more, more, MORE! <3
2. My hair has suffered some breakage at the top of my head within the last two months, and I'm not sure how it has. I haven't worn any tight styles at all; I've been wearing braids, twists, braid outs, and twist outs. I think maybe the breakage might have come from those mini braids that I had... maybe having only gel in my hair for two weeks holding those braids together is what broke the top of my hair off, because that's the only place that I can see breakage. I don't know; it's so weird. >_<
4. Little Riah's hair is still flourishing. She got taller this summer, so her hair isn't exactly to her waist anymore, but it's still healthy and growing. Recently, she had bantu knots with flat twists as a style combo and it looked amazing on her.
When the style got frizzy after about 5 days, I made a new style out of it.
