My NATURAL HAIR Health Update! ;-) October 2014

Hiya, guys! I made a video explaining why I dye only the ends of my hair. Hope you enjoy and if you're thinking about coloring your hair, consider this technique.

Hair health: Currently my hair appears to be in great shape. I am deep conditioning every other week, doing more wash and gos, and experimenting with more protective styles.

Products: Since I can't afford too many Shea Moisture products at the moment, I am still using that Cantu leave in conditioner as my primary moisturizer, and I use my holy grail oil on top of that for MAXIMUM moisture sealing. This Cantu stuff works so well (for me, that is...Syriah, not so much)! I can rock a twist-out for a freakin week before it starts looking raggedy. Oh, and sometimes, a giant high bun at night works better than a pineapple.
If I am not using the Cantu, I use either the Shea Moisture Curling Souffle for my twist outs with the oil on top or I use the LA Curl Activator gel for a superb wash & go after washing my hair.

Postpartum Shedding: Actually, my postpartum shedding has been very minimal this entire time! Only my edges have been shedding, but still, not as much. Since my last baby is almost 6 months now, it's been dwindling down even more. Video about that is coming very soon! ;-)

Got questions or comment? Hit me up here on on Facebook!
Peace out till laters! ;-)

My First Wash & Go EVER! KINKY CURLY CURLING CUSTARD Review

Heya, guys! Yes, you read the title right. I have actually never attempted a wash and go, not since I've been natural. I've just never actually needed to; I'm home most of the time, so I'm never in a situation where I have to fix my hair and run out the door or anything. My hair remains braided or twisted, or nowadays, in a bun or pineapple to preserve the twist out or braid out.
But since I had a chance to get KCCC (Kinky Curly Curling Custard) recently, I decided to finally try a wash and go. People have fallen in love with that product, and now I see why! It's actually all natural, I believe, or at least 99% natural. It's wonderful.
So on my wash day on Saturday, I co-washed my hair with the new As I Am Coconut Co-Wash I also got (yes, I actually co-washed, only because it's actually formulated for cleansing and not some random cheapie conditioner) from my CurlMart haul (previous post), conditioned with my Herbal Essences conditioner, and rinsed. Right after I towel blotted my hair and got dressed, I started sectioning my hair and applying the KCCC onto each section, after using a dab of coconut oil on my scalp and newly colored ends.

Applying the KCCC

Now the only problem that I had with this was that I think I was supposed to re-wet my hair as I was doing it. Although I applied immediately after washing, I don't think my hair was wet enough. I say that because when my hair dried, it was super frizzy in the back and also very hard and crunchy on certain parts of my hair! It looked amazing as far as definition, but I could just tell that maybe I should have used my AVJ/water spritz on each section before applying the product.

                           After KCCC is Dry

It looks cute, though, except for the shrinkage, of course LOL! I pineappled my hair for the night and tied it with a satin scarf. I was curious to see how this wash and go would look on day 2.

Day 2

Well, it did look better! More volume, hangs better. My hair is still super hard in some areas, so hard and clumped together to where I cannot even pull the hairs apart (yikes), but I will probably spritz my ends again soon and pin it up before bed to loosen the hardness of it, then apply some oil and see if it still holds up. If not, oh well. That's the fun of experimenting, right?
At least I finally tried a wash and go, and I finally tried KCCC! Yay, me! Haha!
Let me know what you guys think and if you've ever tried this product. Was it a success or was it a half-failure like mine was? lol
Peace out till later, curlies! Stay curly!

Work-out Hair and... World Natural Hair Show!

Hiya, curlies! I am showing you guys how I wore my hair yesterday when I went outside to work out. Hubby and I rode our bikes alone for the first time EVER, since my mother in law had the kids for two days. Woo hoo! So we rode a long way together and back, adding to my 'biking every other day' routine that I've been doing for the last few weeks to get in shape and lose weight.
It was beyond time for my hair to be washed already since I didn't do it on Monday or Sunday, so I prepped my hair with coconut oil as my pre-poo. Then I put it into a high puff ponytail, somewhat like the 'pineappling' method. A lot of the oil dripped down my neck when I went outside in the sun, but I didn't care. I wasn't trying to look that cute. O_O
After biking and hiking for nearly three hours, we got home and I hopped in the shower. Washed my hair like normal. Then I conditioned it using the last of my Roots of Nature Green Tea conditioner. My hair felt awesome and sweat-free. It fell like it always falls when I use coconut oil before washing it, although overnight results are always better. My hair is also shedding a lot less since taking vitamins. Yay for results once again!
Well, besides all that, I have some excitement going on for once. The Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show is coming back to Atlanta in two days! It's the spring one this time. I've been waiting for this event ever since I left the fall one in October. I'm quite sure that I'll have more fun this time than I did last time because not only do I know what to expect, but I have lots of people to meet on Saturday from a meet-up. So I definitely won't be lonely. :-)
Yes, I am bringing little Syriah with me again, because she had a ball last time and I want her to be involved in the natural hair beauty at a young age. Plus, she doesn't get out of the house much right now, she's four years old, and LOVES people. So she's excited about going with me.

So, I am super excited for Saturday. Two more days until the spring show!
Talk to you curlies... um, more than likely when I get back on Saturday. Hehe.

Peace out!
